Batsmen’s tournament yet again…

Cricket often termed as a batsmen’s game has proved yet again, in the recently concluded ICC Cricket world cup-2015. The following factors guarantee the batsmen’s dominance:
• This world cup has seen the batting team scoring more than 10.18 per over in the last 60 deliveries of an innings.
• 9.18 sixers (at an average) were hit in each match, which is very close to the one we saw in some of the T20 tournaments.
• Double hundred being scored by a player in an innings happened twice.
• World record for the fastest double hundred was broken (Christopher Henry Gayle off 143 balls versus Zimbabwe).
• World record for the world’s fastest 150 has been re-written (Abraham De’villiers off 64 balls, versus WestIndies).
• 28 times the team scored 300 or above out of 98 innings.
• The batting powerplay yielded nearly 11 runs per over.
• 38 centuries were scored in this tournament, which is highest in a single world cup tournament.
• World record for the Highest partnership for any wicket was set by Marlon Samuels and Christopher Henry Gayle (372 versus Zimbabwe).
• Record for the Highest team total in a world cup was achieved by Australia against Scotland (418 off 50 overs).

  1. Gayle and Samuels partnership faced more than 300 balls.. That means they have played more than 50 overs in an ODI..

    1. Thank you for your opinion. its 372 runs scored by Gayle and Samuels for 2nd wicket against Zimbabwe, not the number of deliveries faced.
